Product Management of innovative technology products
Successfully developed and launched a rich communication services (RCS) product suite for a major European telco, including mobile chat, picture & video sharing, voice enhancements and video calling and rolled it out across Europe, acquiring several million users.
Led a cross-functional project to productise the capabilities of an edge computing platform venture. Defined propositions, use cases and product concepts involving low latency applications, edge computing, AR and VR.
Led product management for the portfolio of Chat & VoIP products of a VC-backed tech scale-up across web, iOS, Windows, Nokia Symbian, Java and Android platforms.
Ran Product Management for the B2B products of a major Dutch energy company.
Strategic marketing & ecosystem development
Developed regional marketing strategies for Rich Business Messaging in the European Telecom industry, creating the evolution of A2P SMS and a major channel for conversational commerce, enabling chatbots, AI and innovative solutions to raise business-consumer engagement to the next level. Facilitated collaborative product definition, led market coordination, established distribution channels, advised on positioning and offer structures.
Successfully brought to market more than 50 innovative identity and communication services in 20 countries across Europe. Personally led collaborative multi-company projects in Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and Austria. Promoted concepts, aligned objectives and priorities, facilitated discussions between competitors, removed doubts, guided local implementation projects and overcame technical- and business constraints.
Designed the marketing strategy and developed a global ecosystem for operator rich communication services (RCS) – IP-based mobile chat, picture and video sharing, voice enhancements and video calling – including more than 90 operators, Google, smartphone manufacturers, app developers, messaging companies, and aggregators.
Established Mobile Connect (GSMA Identity services framework) ecosystems in Germany, The Netherlands, Austria and Poland and grew the overall ecosystem across Europe. Facilitated localised product definition, led in-market coordination; assisted MNOs with product positioning, distribution, and offer structures.
Leading cross-industry collaboration
Elected Chair of the IP Communications Leadership Team: a collaborative initiative between the “Big 5” European telcos — DT, Orange, Telefonica, Telecom Italia and Vodafone. Later, brought under the GSMA and expanded to include AT&T, China Mobile, Verizon and others.
Established and ran the European Identity Group for the GSMA – a select group of senior executives leading identity services at 15 leading European telcos, including DT, Orange, Telefonica, Telenor, Telia and Vodafone. Compiled (author/editor) the collective European Telecom industry response to the European Commission’s public consultation on the formation of a European eID and changes to the EIDAS regulation.
Managed the South African oil industry’s EDI implementation, involving 6 oil companies, several refineries and national rail- road- and pipeline transport providers, reducing reconciliations from monthly to daily, vastly improving information flow and transforming logistics, planning and operational effectiveness.
Business Development (B2B)
Successfully facilitated the launch of more than 50 collaborative mobile network operator products across Europe: Promoted concepts, aligned objectives and priorities, facilitated discussions between competitors, removed doubts, and overcame technical and business constraints.

Management consulting
Advised GSMA member companies on technical and business aspects relating to a range of telecommunication topics, including 5G, IoT, Edge, Open RAN, Identity, Messaging, Voice&VoLTE, Fraud prevention, Security, eSIM and Climate.
Provided consultancy from DT Group to local management in DT’s European countries, mainly regarding industry trends and developments – advising on the evolution of communication services tailored to local market conditions.
Provided consultancy services to clients of TNO ICT regarding innovation in communication and information technology – both on content as well as processes, methods and organisation.
Advised clients of KPMG Consulting on e-Business applications and the use of internet-based front-end services for B2B applications.
